Miriam Smith

Miriam is a self-taught artist based in the city of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Showing a preference for watercolour, she creates vibrant and expressive paintings of the beautiful landscape, powerful seas and ever-changing weather of the Highlands. Miriam has work in private collections in Australia, America and Belgium as well as here in Britain.

 'I love the fluidity and freshness of watercolour, the sheer challenge of its' unpredictability. I paint spontaneously, using these inherent qualities rather than trying to restrain them, my aim, to achieve colours that sing and paintings that are full of the live, beauty and strength of the Highland environment.'
